*Update* - 09/17/2012 -
It's been right at about two years since Mike sent photos of his awesome
Radian. He sent some more photos recently showing a few new things.
He's added a fly screen, an oil cooler from an FZ600, and wave rotors, front
and back. The bike now has 10,000 miles on it since it's been rebuilt.
His wife lets him borrow it once in a while. Awesome, Mike!
(That's a killer looking V-max, too!)
Mike M. used to build Harleys
a while back. He picked up this '86 Radian and rebuilt it from the ground
up. Take a look at the photos. He's done an outstanding job with it.
I bet this bike is a blast to ride! Thanks, Mike! Here is a list of
some of the modifications:
- Front rim, rotors, calipers,
fender and fork legs (45mm dia.) are from a 99 GSXR 600
- Triple trees, headlight, signal
light crown and risers are from a 2003 Yamaha V-max - stem was changed for
the Radian one and fork leg holes machined out from 43mm to 45mm. The
Vmax triples are .58" narrower then the GSXR ones, so the rim hub,
axle and the caliper mounts on the fork legs had to machined to fit.
- Protaper motocross bars,
Acewell digital gauge, gsxr brake master and clutch lever mount with
adjustable gsxr custom levers
- Engine top end was rebuilt,
rings, valves reground, new guides and seals - also complete gasket kit
installed. The engine was sandblasted and repainted.
- EFM auto clutch installed -
very trick little item. (easier for wife to learn how to ride)
- Carbs completely stripped and
rebuilt
- Exhaust changed to a 4 to 1
stainless steel Predator Exhaust with a 10" Hindle carbon fiber exhaust
- Frame, wheels, swingarm and
misc stuff powder coated
- All new bearings front to back
- Completely new wire harness - I
remade one using the original as a template
- Rear swingarm,
rim, caliper, brake master and rotor from a 1994 FZR600R
- Braided brake
lines front and back
- Rear shocks are piggyback
nitrogen Chinese knockoffs
- and of course, Russ's fender
eliminator mod
- LED signal lights
- Seat cut down 1 1/2" or so and
recovered
- Bodywork prepped and paint
saffire blue
